Commercial Windows and Doors Installation in Ooralea

Remove, Supply and Install Commercial Windows and Doors in Ooralea

The Project
The Central Queensland University, Heavy Automotive Trade Training Centre is located in Ooralea and they were going through an expansion. They wanted to replace all the windows and doors at the centre to add more security. Altogether there were 26 windows and doors that needed replacing.

The Solution
After we inspected the training centre facility we formulated our plan on the type of windows that would suit the job and the type of doors that would add security to the premises. The doors and windows were a combination of sliding windows, single-pane windows and double and single doors that were a mixture of clear and frosted glass.

Window and Door Removal Ooralea

When we remove windows and doors we record the measurement of the door and window frame and we also record the frame area measurement where the windows and doors were taken from. We take them back to the factory and store them to be used as spare parts for future projects. All the products we remove are used and never thrown away unless they are broken which we then send away to be recycled.

Installation of the New Doors and Windows

Different styles of doors and windows were used in this project. The internal windows and sliding windows were made from clear glass with a powder-coated aluminium frame. All the doors were hinged and had security key locks. The door frames and leafs had a fibre cement insert.

The glass we installed was a combination of Acousta laminated safety glass, frosted glass and Sol-r Grey glass which is highly transparent and durable.

What are the benefits of laminated glass?

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that is made by sandwiching a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or other interlayer material between two or more layers of glass. This construction gives laminated glass several unique properties and benefits:

1. Safety and Security

  • Impact Resistance: The interlayer holds the glass together even if it is broken, reducing the risk of injury from sharp shards. This makes laminated glass a safer option for windows and doors.
  • Intruder Resistance: It is harder to break through laminated glass compared to regular glass, providing an additional level of security against break-ins.
  • Protection from Natural Disasters: Laminated glass can withstand high winds, flying debris, and pressure changes, making it suitable for use in areas prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.

2. Sound Insulation

  • Noise Reduction: The interlayer dampens sound vibrations, making laminated glass effective at reducing noise from outside. This makes it ideal for use in urban areas, near highways, or in places where soundproofing is important.

3. UV Protection

  • UV Filtering: Laminated glass can block up to 99% of ultraviolet (UV) rays, which helps protect interiors from fading and reduces the risk of skin damage from prolonged exposure to sunlight.

4. Energy Efficiency

  • Thermal Insulation: Laminated glass can help reduce heat transfer, improving the energy efficiency of a building by maintaining a more stable indoor temperature and reducing the need for heating or cooling.

5. Design Flexibility

  • Aesthetic Options: Laminated glass is available in a variety of colours, tints, and finishes, allowing for creative design possibilities in architecture and interior design.

6. Durability and Longevity

  • Resilience: Laminated glass is more resistant to wear and tear compared to regular glass. It can withstand harsh environmental conditions without deteriorating quickly.

7. Versatility

  • Multiple Applications: Laminated glass is used in a wide range of applications, including automotive windshields, building windows, skylights, glass doors, and even in specialty products like bulletproof glass.

These benefits make laminated glass a popular choice for both residential and commercial projects, especially where safety, security, and performance are critical considerations.
