The Project
The homeowner was renovating their bedroom and ensuite. They wanted us to install a new shower screen and a framed mirror in the bathroom. They also wanted their bedroom sliding robe doors to include a mirrored front and a white vinyl Gyprock front. Also, included in the job was a sliding two-door Gyprock front at the entry from the backdoor.
The Solution
After we completed our inspection it was determined that the framed shower screen would be white with clear glass. The mirrors were also to be white-framed. The sliding doors in the bedroom would consist of one Gyprock door in white vinyl and the other sliding door would be mirrored. The sliding doors at the back entrance would both be white vinyl Gyprock.
Before installing any shower screen we make sure that all the angles are square. This makes sure that the shower doors open correctly and there are no gaps for water to leak from. Once we had all our measurements we went back to the factory to construct the shower screen.
For this project, there was the inline pivot shower door and a glass panel that would be installed at right angles to the shower screen. The installation of the shower screen went smoothly and was secured tightly into position.
The white framed mirror measured 1348mm x 750mm and was attached to the wall opposite the shower screen just above the vanity.
The bedroom wardrobe had a sliding two-door entry. For one of the sliding robe doors we chose a white vinyl Gyporck door and the other sliding robe door was mirrored. Once again all the angles must be square so that the sliding doors can run along the tracks effectively.

Yes, Gyprock vinyl doors are generally easy to clean. Vinyl surfaces are smooth and non-porous, which makes them resistant to stains and easy to wipe down with a damp cloth or mild soap solution. This makes them suitable for environments where cleanliness and maintenance are important, such as homes, offices, and commercial spaces. Just be sure to follow any specific cleaning instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure the longevity and appearance of the vinyl doors.
Cleaning Gyprock vinyl doors is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:
1. Dust Removal: Start by using a dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush to gently remove any dust or loose dirt from the surface of the door. This prevents scratching when you proceed to wet cleaning.
2. Prepare Cleaning Solution: Mix a small amount of mild detergent or dish soap with water in a bucket or spray bottle. You can also use a specialized vinyl cleaner if preferred, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Wash the Door: Dip a clean microfiber cloth or sponge into the cleaning solution. Wring out excess liquid so the cloth is damp but not dripping.
4. Clean the Surface: Wipe the vinyl door with the damp cloth or sponge, starting from the top and working your way down. Use gentle pressure to remove any dirt or stains. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads that could scratch the surface.
5. Rinse and Dry: If using a bucket, rinse the cloth or sponge in clean water frequently to remove dirt and soap residue. If using a spray bottle, spray clean water onto the door to rinse off the detergent.
6. Dry the Door: Use a dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the door dry. This helps to prevent water spots and ensures a streak-free finish.
7. Optional: Apply Vinyl Protectant: If desired, you can apply a vinyl protectant or conditioner after cleaning to enhance the door’s shine and provide additional protection against dirt and UV rays.
8. Regular Maintenance: To keep your Gyprock vinyl doors looking their best, regularly dust them with a dry cloth and promptly clean up any spills or stains.
By following these steps, you can effectively clean Gyprock vinyl doors and maintain their appearance and durability over time.
