Window Installation at Slade Point

Remove Existing Window and Install a New Window

Russco’s Glazing Transforms a Slade Point Home with a Stylish New Sliding Window

When it comes to refreshing the look and functionality of a home, few upgrades make as immediate and lasting an impact as new windows. At Russco’s Glazing, we take pride in delivering high-quality window solutions tailored to the needs of our clients. A recent project in Slade Point, QLD, showcases our commitment to precision, reliability, and professional workmanship.

This residential installation involved the removal of an existing window and the supply and installation of a new Fraser OXXO sliding window. The upgrade not only improved the visual appeal of the property but also enhanced airflow, natural light, and ease of operation.

Project Overview

The property owner in Slade Point reached out to Russco’s Glazing, looking to replace an old, worn-out window with something modern, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. After an initial consultation and site inspection, it was decided that a Fraser OXXO sliding window would be the perfect fit.

The selected window measured 1212mm high by 1860mm wide, with a beige powder-coated aluminium frame and clear glass. The OXXO configuration features two fixed panels at the ends and two central sliding sashes, providing excellent ventilation control and a balanced, symmetrical look. The beige frame complemented the home’s existing exterior, blending seamlessly while adding a fresh, clean appearance.

Step 1: Removal of the Existing Window

Our experienced team began by safely removing the old window. This step required careful attention to detail to ensure the surrounding structure was not damaged in the process. The window was removed in sections, glass panels first, followed by the frame, while observing all relevant safety precautions.

Once removed, the opening was cleaned and prepared for the new installation. This included checking the sill and framing for any signs of rot or deterioration, making minor repairs where necessary, and ensuring the opening was level and square.

Step 2: Measuring and Ordering the New Window

Although initial measurements had been taken during the quote process, a second, precise measurement was conducted after the old window was removed. This is a key part of our process to ensure the replacement unit fits perfectly, especially in homes where older structures may have settled or shifted slightly over time.

The Fraser OXXO window was then custom-made to order based on these final dimensions. The size, 1212mm in height and 1860mm in width, was selected to match the original opening while incorporating a modern aesthetic. The beige finish was chosen for its timeless appeal and its ability to coordinate well with a range of exterior paint colours and materials.

Step 3: Supplying the Custom Fraser Sliding Window

Once the custom window was manufactured, it was carefully transported to the site. Fraser windows are known for their durability, energy efficiency, and ease of operation. The OXXO model, in particular, provides an ideal balance of light, airflow, and privacy, making it a popular choice for living areas and bedrooms.

All components, including the frame, sliding sashes, and high-quality seals, were checked for accuracy and condition prior to installation. At Russco’s, we believe in quality control every step of the way.

Step 4: Window Installation

The final step was the installation of the new sliding window. Our glazing team positioned the unit into the prepared opening, checking for level and plumb alignment before securing it into place. Flashing and sealing were carefully applied to ensure the window was watertight and compliant with Queensland’s building standards.

Once secured, the sliding sashes were installed, and the operation of the window was tested thoroughly. The clear glass allowed for uninterrupted views and maximised the natural light entering the room, while the OXXO design allowed for easy opening from either side.

A final cleanup ensured the area was left tidy, and the client was provided with information on care and maintenance of their new window.

The Result

The finished result was a stylish and functional sliding window that added immediate value and comfort to the home. The beige aluminium frame offered a warm, neutral tone that complemented the property’s exterior, while the large panes of clear glass opened up the room with abundant daylight.

At Russco’s Glazing, we specialise in window replacements that are not only visually appealing but built to last. This Slade Point project is another example of our dedication to craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and attention to detail.
